Riane Pater is fascinated by the world around her, and the way we,
the people, live our lives with the things we have made. She uses
those interests as material for her art, likes to play with
different perspectives and combine materials that are not meant to
be together. 'What can we hold on to if there is nothing to hold
on to' is one of the questions that's proven essential to her
work. In a sense her works often become unreachable, seemingly
impossible and leading to nothing. It is exactly this gleam of
impossibility that incites her to try. The struggle becomes the
work itself and - by doing something that leads to nothing
- manifests itself as something touchable, visible. Through her
works she wants to express her absurd perspective on life, which
she herself proclaims to be neither wrong nor right. Go see for
